The Beach
IRB's beach is wide, white, and the Gulf water is that signature Gulf Coast turquoise. Because the community is primarily residential, you get significantly fewer crowds than Clearwater Beach — especially once you get away from the main public access points. There are 14 public beach access points along Gulf Blvd, most with small parking lots.

What to Do
The Beach
Spend as much time here as possible. The Gulf is calm, warm, and the shells are excellent — IRB is a particularly good spot for shelling because the beach isn't raked daily like resort beaches.
The Community Pier
The Indian Rocks Beach pier is a local gathering spot, especially at sunset. Bring a fishing rod or just bring a drink and watch the pelicans. The sunset views from here are outstanding.
Splash Harbour Water Park
Right on the Intracoastal side of Indian Rocks Beach. A compact water park perfect for a half-day when afternoon thunderstorms roll in or when the kids need a change of scene.
Kayaking the Intracoastal
The Intracoastal Waterway runs the length of the island on the east side. Several local outfitters rent kayaks and paddleboards for exploring the mangroves, spotting manatees, and getting a completely different perspective on the coastline.
Where to Eat
IRB has a small but solid dining scene. Guppy's on the Beach is the local institution — a seafood and raw bar that's been a fixture for decades. The Lighthouse Grill is a good casual spot for lunch. Tom's Place Waterfront Bar on the Intracoastal has one of the better sunset views in the area.
Getting There
Indian Rocks Beach is about 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport and sits roughly in the middle of the Gulf Coast beach corridor — an easy drive to both Clearwater to the north and downtown St. Pete to the south, making it a perfect base for exploring the whole area.
